I have been attending Margot’s sumi-e workshops regularly since 2017. Margot is not only a wonderful artist but also a fantastic teacher. She has a remarkable gift for motivating her students and helping them achieve their very best. She teaches all the techniques from the ground up.
Her sumi-e journey to Japan last May was an absolute highlight for me! Even our accommodation in the heart of Kyoto was truly special. The sumi-e lessons after a delicious breakfast, followed by a lovely lunch, were a real pleasure.
The afternoon excursions to the Golden and Silver Pavilions, the Philosopher’s Path and the teamLab museum, along with delicious dinners at nearby restaurants, made for a truly joyful experience!
The visit to the Kobaien ink manufactory and making our own brushes with the brush maker in Nara were particularly memorable, as was exploring this historic city.
There was also plenty of time for shopping at the Kobaien shop, traditional boutiques, lacquerware shops and tea shops.
The early-morning visit to the thousands of torii gates at Fushimi Inari also left a deep impression on me.
This journey was beautifully organised, wonderfully varied and absolutely fascinating!
